U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.43%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the gained 0.43%, while the index added 0.57%, and the index added 0.73%.

The best performers of the session on the were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 1.81% or 0.57 points to trade at 32.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Boeing Co (NYSE:) added 1.46% or 3.04 points to end at 211.01 and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 1.41% or 0.48 points to 34.63 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were American Express Company (NYSE:), which fell 0.71% or 1.16 points to trade at 162.43 at the close. 3M Company (NYSE:) declined 0.41% or 0.42 points to end at 102.77 and Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:) was down 0.36% or 0.80 points to 222.50.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:) which rose 4.39% to 309.11, Caesars Entertainment Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 3.74% to settle at 46.87 and Paycom Soft (NYSE:) which gained 3.64% to close at 296.28.

The worst performers were Signature Bank (OTC:) which was down 22.29% to 0.19 in late trade, SVB Financial Group (OTC:) which lost 7.73% to settle at 0.90 and Charles Schwab Corp (NYSE:) which was down 4.96% to 52.47 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Scynexis Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 76.05% to 2.94, Palisade Bio Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 57.74% to settle at 2.65 and Accelerate Diagnostics Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 41.49% to close at 0.71.

The worst performers were mCloud Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 48.91% to 0.37 in late trade, G Medical Innovations Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) which lost 38.29% to settle at 1.66 and Cyxtera Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 34.69% to 0.42 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2044 to 933 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1816 rose and 1767 declined, while 157 ended unchanged.

Shares in mCloud Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 48.91% or 0.35 to 0.37. Shares in G Medical Innovations Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 38.29% or 1.03 to 1.66. Shares in Cyxtera Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 34.69% or 0.23 to 0.42.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.74% or 14.60 to $1,999.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.92% or 1.40 to hit $74.37 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.25% or 0.97 to trade at $78.56 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.57% to 1.09, while USD/JPY fell 0.18% to 132.60.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 101.83.
