An idea competition has been launched to find new and innovative solutions to eco-friendly sanitary pads and improved cook stoves for rural women of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) areas.
Mosammat Hamida Begum, secretary to the Chittagong hill tracts affairs ministry, was present at the launching event of the competition at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre in Dhaka yesterday.
Strengthening Inclusive Development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, a project of the ministry, and the UNDP, is organising the competition with technical assistance from a2i’s iLab and financial support from Global Affairs Canada.
Interested inventors are urged to submit their ideas by September 8 to participate in the competition.
After scrutinising innovative ideas submitted by the participants, a jury board will select two sustainable and cost-effective ideas.
Seed funding for developing functional prototypes and piloting for two selected ideas will be around Tk 25 lakh each.
